Sustainability

Our ESG Path

Track&Field is increasingly reinforcing its strategic planning related to Environmental, Social and Governance issues, and has a team dedicated to structuring and driving this priority agenda for the company. In August 2021, for the first time, we consolidated the initiatives that mark our ESG path in a document, which you can check here. Since then, we have progressed in some topics and we would like to share some highlights and recent updates.

Environmental

Within this construction process, we have been working to understand the environmental impacts of our operations. The first step consisted of mapping impacts that include greenhouse gas emissions (in progress), water consumption and waste generation in our operations.

With regards to water consumption, in 2021 our operations (headquarters, distribution center, own stores and franchises, and own production) consumed approximately 20,522 m³ of water. In addition, digital printing was one of the technological innovations adopted by the company, implemented to reduce water consumption in screen printing.

Thus, the t-shirts used in some events are printed using a digital printer, in a completely water-free process – without the need for pre-treatment, steam or washing.

Regarding waste, in 2021 our own operations generated around 2,034 tons of recyclable materials, textile and organic waste, which were recycled or landfillled. In our distribution center, we have an initiative for reusing already used boxes in the supply chain, extending their useful life – and when they can no longer be reused, they are recycled. Check the following table for the types of waste mapped and their respective destinations:

Waste Type Volume (ton) Destination
Recyclables (plastic, paper and cardboard) 62.52 Recycling: 55%
Municipal Waste Collection: 45%
Common waste 1,875.47 Municipal Waste Collection: 100%
Textile (pre-production) 96 Sold Locally

To help reduce the use of plastics in packaging for end consumers, in 2021 we launched a pilot project for paper bags and replacement of individual protective plastic bags with tissue paper at the Experience Store at Shopping Iguatemi São Paulo. Starting in August, these initiatives will be implemented for all of our 310 stores (owned and franchised). In addition, during onboarding of new corporate employees, we give bottles to encourage them to reduce the use of plastic cups. In the 2022 running circuit promoted by the brand, plastic water cups delivered to the runners were replaced with aluminum cans, combining the need to consume mineral water with the reduction of environmental impact, since the packaging is 100% recyclable.

In 2021, around 6 million pieces were produced, which were sent to our 298 stores in Brazil, 77% of the total volume was produced in Brazil. Track&Field is committed to avoid incinerating unsold parts. Therefore, the company follows the markdown/outlet flow and, when these are still not sold, they go to an internal bazaar exclusively for employees.

Social

Our mission is to connect people with an active and healthy lifestyle. So that our employees can practice it, we have the TFTeam Club, an initiative that includes partnerships, events and benefits that provide well-being and involve the pillars of physical and mental health. Check out some examples of actions we have today:

We are committed to providing equal opportunity and fair treatment for all through our Code of Ethics. Any type of discrimination or conduct that are harmful to human rights in any way are not tolerated, and any occurrences (both in our operations and in our supply chain) may be reported through our Ethics Line, an independent channel managed by KPMG through website: www.linhaetica.com.br/etica/tf, by email linhaeticatf@linhaetica.com.br or by phone: 0800-713-0050. We also provide internally, in emergency cases, a social and psychological guidance and support service to employees.
In 2021, we launched an internal diagnostic process to shed some light on the diversity scenario within our operations. Our first step was to carry out an internal census, in order to better understand the profile of our employees and since then we have invested in training and lectures on the subject diversity and inclusion, to raise our employees awareness on this issue . Please see below the job position list by race, mapped out in the February 2022 census.
